RM Components and Concepts

Before using RM, you should understand the core concepts of the records management system and the functions that are available to RM users. Below are some of those core concepts:

  • file plans

  • files and file parts

  • documents and records

  • requesting and borrowing items

  • the Recently Used categorization

  • the Group Favorites categorization.

This help describes RM as it is shipped. Your RM administrator may have customized the appearance of elements such as field names, column titles, or button labels. If you have any questions regarding this, please contact your administrator.

Any changes made to the default terminology can be reflected in the user interface. This makes the transition to RM easier, because you do not have to learn new terminology as well as a new system. But it also means that if RM has been customized for your organization, the fields described here may not match what you see on your screen.
