DM users know that a document profile contains summary information about electronic and paper documents, and that this information forms the basis of any search performed on a document. RM modifies these profiles to add new file-related fields. These new fields allow you to file a document and see other information about the file that holds the document.
Note these document filing rules:
A document can only be assigned to one file part at any one time.
Documents can be assigned only to open or reopened file parts.
Documents are managed by the storage management actions, cutoff/rollover actions, disposal actions, and disposal authorities from their file part. RM also allows you to assign disposal actions for individual documents.
Some security-related features of RM documents differ from the standard DM security. Depending on your system configuration, a document’s security may be independent of its file part’s security, or it may inherit security settings when it’s filed.
